LFR Blues

C'mon guys! I only need a little more.

C’mon guys! I only need a little more.

Okay, so the goats are getting a little picky about being used for steaks. I don’t think they’re particulary fond of the Tiller Chefs at the moment.

In other news: Dufit is really trying to take the plunge into LFR. Guardians of Mogushan is first on his list. In hunting around for some info on the fights, we came across an 18 pc. set of vids at Youtube.

In this particular set, number 5 appeared to be what we were seeking. Now, there are a lot of pros and cons to this video. On the down side, our narrator comes off as some sort of elitist raider and even though the vid is listed as a “guide,” that’s stretching the term to it’s limit.

On the up side, if you pay attention to the video running behind our narrator, his comments seem to take on a sarcastic form of humor. It does appear to be nothing more than an all-out dps slug fest. Admittedly, we know nothing about the group running. Although there did not seem to be any concern for strats. boss abilities or bad stuff, perhaps there was. Hard to say at this point.

It’s also hard to say what it exactly is about these vids, that tipped the scale for Dufit to actually que for it this morning. Far from being an actual “guide,” perhaps they simply pushed a long time desire/dream into action. Perhaps, with 24 other peeps around, not a whole lot can go wrong unless he gets really stupid and dies. IDK? Overall and even knowing that raiding holds a certain amount of serious business, it just looked like a fun thing to do. 🙂

A bit later on in the set of vids, our narrator does make one comment that strikes home. In essence he says, if you’re new to raiding and want to learn, LFR is a good place to practice and hone your skills. Maybe it was that which turned the tide?

Oh, and about this mornings’ que? Never really got off the ground. Maybe cause we’re an early daytime player, maybe cause this far into the expansion most folks have already done this raid dozens of times. Whatever, the que never filled a group out. Tomorrow is another day.

Patch 5.2–Random Assessments

Consider This: What I’m about to put forward here is based purely upon my own thoughts and opinions. Knowing this, you are prepared to read further if you so choose. 🙂

Patch 5.2 assesments: Let’s begin with Sunsong Ranch and the farm(s). If you’ve been following news at MMO Champion, you of coarse already know of the numerous changes coming to the ranch. Overall, I’m generally in favor of these changes even though some really won’t have much affect on my Horde crew at this time. For example:

The new work orders you begin to recieve if you’ve accepted the ranch as “your own.” These work orders require you to plant and harvest 8 of X products. Filling the order and delivering it will gain you 300 rep with the faction you accepted these new dailys from.

If like me, your main and possibly an alt or two, already has exalted rep status with these factions. So at this point in the expansion, these new dailys will only serve any more alts you choose to bring up through the rep grinds. (In my opinion) And of coarse, this is based upon my current level of information and could possibly see change as the patch continues to develop.

Merchant Greenfield will be offering seed paks which will allow you to plant 4 seeds at a time. Apparently, these packets will cost you 30 seeds to buy, although it appears that a packet will have 10 charges. My thoughts: this could prove to be a time saver since I have 3 full farms working. The packet cost is okay considering the 10 charges per, as you’d actually be saving yourself the cost of 10 extra individual seeds. Consider this as though your favorite seed of choice is on sale for bulk purchases! You may want to stock up on some extra seeds before patch time. Patch notes indicate that the yield from seeds will possibly go up as well.

Another area of interest which has caught my eye: “Troves of the Thunder King.”  (link is for youtube video from MMO Champion) Dufit, my little goblin shadow priest, is just the kind of adventure who will spend some time perfecting his runs and loot snatching skills here. This is one of those side journeys that has blood-pumping excitement, many challenges and just plain looks like fun to do. It is said, that a good successful run could net you several hundred gold and many other items of interest. Hmmm, very interesting for my little gold hoarder.

With new factions opening up in the coming patch, we’re once again looking at more daily rep grinds. Gaining revered with your respective faction will offer you more valor point gear to buy. Cloaks for example, are set to require 937 VP’s, and their ilvl is 496. Quartermasters apparently will also be offering those expensive Blood Spirits needed for several crafting professions. Cost: apparently 400 VP’s. Well then, you just know you’re going to be grinding out those reps, so take advantage of the offerings as you can. On the other hand…..There is a listing of new Raid Finder Gear  you can look forward to. So far, ilvl of this gear seems to be 502. The list looks good, choose wisely.

Nice and interesting write-up over at Wow Insider’s “Know Your Lore.”  (link to article) Obviously, I am not a great loremaster. I do enjoy reading about lore in the game though and this article talks about the possibility of Jaina becoming the Alliance version of Warchief. Being Horde, why would this interest me? If you’ve been through the Domination Point quest/story lines, the answer is: Lor’themar Theron. Everyone has an opinion on who is most likely to possibly become the new Horde Warchief. Considering all that has transpired through Domination Point, and the opening of 5.2–Lor’themar Theron is still my favorite and desired choice.

New Warchief?

New Warchief?

That’s it for today folks. We wish you good fortune in all your pre-patch adventures! Which btw, looks like possibly March 5, since that is the schedualed end of the PvP Season tier.

The Daily Grind Blues

Uh, tired of those dailys/valor grind? You’re. Not. Alone.

aygarens' daily grinding list

aygarens’ daily grinding list

Being someone who generally enjoys questing and doing dailys, I shocked myself at the end of last week. It’s something of an organized habit to take the three lvl 90s’ in turn, to begin each day with harvesting and re-planting their farms. Then one, and sometimes two, will get the call to muster their way through an onslaught of dailys. No real problem here, just time consuming since any one of the three can easily rack up 20-25 dailys.

Dufit has the added efforts of setting up and mastering an attack on the auction house. That requires some time every weekday morning as well. Last Friday when he finished up, I looked at the screen and said to self, “I am just sooooo tired of dailys right now.” Let’s face facts here. It’s a real chore to keep those three adventurers happy. They’re all like “Go-Go-Go!” and I’m like all “WTH!!!”

So I told them to get and go if they wished, but I was taking a much needed time out.

Off I went a’visiting. Yeppers. All them alts that had been collecting dust since the Pandaren invasion got to see some daylight for a change.

Two in particular stood out. One belf demonology warlock, and a lowly panda bm hunter. Levels 19 and 18 respectively. I haven’t yet raised a Panda class, so he was an obvious choice to run around with. Besides that, he had leatherworking. A profession I would like to see 600 capped out.

Leetan

Leetan

The blood elf lock……well, just an untold story. She’s one other class I’ve never level capped out, so could prove interesting. Profession wise, she wasn’t into anything other than random gathering. So, like it or not, she is now charged with that elusive engineering profession.

Nokila

Nokila

Over the weekend, both made noticeable and delightful progress both in character and skills. The lock actually became good at killing stuffs! So she was rewarded with the cool looking wolf mount from the vast stable of choices when she attained level 40. Yessir! 19-40 in practically no time at all. Gotta love that re-vamped leveling aspect.

Nokila at level 40!

Our little Panda hunter guy faired good as well. Leveled from 18 to 27 in the blink of an eye he did. He enjoyed his time of attention so much though, that he chose to add his own faction mount to the community stable. Really nice of him to do so. It pushed us up to 101 unique mounts! And his mount choice matches with his tanking companion as well! Now, what could be more enjoyable and awesome? I know Dufit was quite relieved over this. He can now slow down on his dungeon rep grinds for that panda faction rep.

So really now. If like many others you’re tired and bumming out over daily/valor grinds, go dust off a couple of lowly alts. I promise, the grinds will still be there when you’re all refreshed and ready to tackle them again.
